But what led me to find Kevin and develop his story? Well, over yen years ago I produced and directed a short film about some people who had breast cancer. It was my response to a very close friend developing the disease and in turn that film –and subsequent web portal– was championed (and mimicked) by one of the UK's leading cancer NGOs and also the NHS. I saw just how much my skills could help people in real times of need—not just provide some bubblegum telly.
Then, some years later, I went through some serious health scares of my own and at one point was told to start preparing myself for the very worst news. You see, I've been on the edge of that precipice and took a little peek over the edge—it changes your priorities, believe me.
After both of those very different experiences, I had to face facts and admit to myself that life has a habit of nudging you to keep growing and tackle the really important things.
