Music
Finding some of the projects and modules at university easy or not that interesting, Rich spent a student loan on a new camera and was soon knocking out pop promos for local bands. As a company, we've not done as many as we wanted, but being an indie production company has limitations. The endless hours of broadcast shows took precedence!
Music Industry Management
Legendary bass player Peter Hook (of Joy Division & New Order) and others explain what prospective students on this innovative and modern MA run by University of Central Lancashire can expect.
Embrace 'Wake up call'
Shot over three live gigs in the North of England. All venues were intimate with small but enthusiastic crowds — a fun promo for us to make.
MC Tunes: 23 Years Late
The mercurial talent from Manchester known as MC Tunes, AKA as the frontman for the incredible Dust Junkys, which, according to NME, was one of the best live bands ever. Tunes first album was a huge success, but his second album was finished and never released. The original master tapes have now been found and have been remixed and remastered for public release.
Jodie Connor "Now or Never"
Jodie returns to her hometown of Oldham in the north of England to perform an intimate gig in Liquid nightclub - on her birthday and a Bank Holiday May weekend.
Firetower 4
These guys meet up every so often and riff, jam, sing, speak, all without written or structured material. As a creative, I found watching them fascinating, and this short film captures just a fraction of their skill and spirit.
Linnea "Free"
Shot on location in beautiful Northern Ireland and around London, this fun promo emulates the free, easy and breezy mood of The Monkees. Linnea's debut single is a catchy pop-riff that will have you tapping your fingers and toes!
Viola "Occam's Razor"
Shot in a stunning little church in Ripponden (in the Calder Valley, West Yorks) featuring talented singer songwriter Shaun Hunter. This film was a spiritual moment for Rich as a film-maker, as the day before he'd dodged death in a serious car accident.
Republic
Coming from an old S-VHS master tape is this promo for a Halifax-based band called Republic... made by our founder, Rich, while still at university but with definitely more than one eye on setting up an indie.
Reservoir Gods
Members of underground rave band Terrorize give their take on Stealers Wheel's cult hit 'Stuck in the middle With You'. Filmed on a mico-budget of about ten quid!
Blessed Rain
Calder Valley-based band Blessed Rain are filmed on VHS (yes, really!!) on the top floor of a deserted warehouse, replete with pigeon detritous and broken windows.
Mad Dog in a Hurricane
A live shoot and promo performance mixed with archive 8mm colour film. Cameras used were a mixture of formats.
Union Jack Boy
Again, shot & edited by Rich while @ uni' way back in the 90s, this version coming from an old S-VHS master that were thought to be long gone & rotted. The boys for Embrace were in the audience watching this band, featuring Mickey Dale on guitar who went on to become their keyboard player.
